Turkish Law Expert Opinion

Written expert legal opinions on Turkish law for German courts, law firms and notaries. Registered expert at Mannheim Local Court for inheritance, family and property law.

Turkish Law Expert Legal Opinion — For Courts, Lawyers, and Notaries

This page addresses Turkish law exclusively. Doğru Kanzlei advises on Turkish law under § 207 BRAO and does not advise on German domestic law.

Registered Expert on Turkish Law · Mannheim Local Court (Amtsgericht Mannheim)

When a German legal case touches on a question of Turkish law, the same situation comes up again and again: the court, or the lawyer handling the file, needs a reliable, written, and reasoned answer to how Turkish law actually applies. German conflict-of-laws rules (Art. 3 ff. EGBGB, Rome I, Rome III, the EU Succession Regulation) frequently point to Turkish substantive law in these situations — and the content of that law then has to be established as a matter of fact.

This is precisely what a written expert legal opinion on Turkish law is for.

Who This Service Is For

German courts acting under Section 293 ZPO, lawyers handling a case with a Turkish connection, notaries handling matters with an international element, and probate, family, and civil courts more broadly.

This matters indirectly to Turkish citizens living in Germany too: if your inheritance or divorce case connected to Turkey is being heard in a German court, your lawyer or the court itself may commission exactly this kind of opinion to clarify how Turkish law applies to your file. In that situation, the opinion goes directly into the court record and can directly shape the outcome of your case.

Why Commission an Opinion from Doğru Kanzlei?

Dual qualification: I am a member of both the Ankara Bar Association and the Karlsruhe Bar Association in Germany (§ 207 BRAO). I know both legal systems from practice, not just from academic literature.
Court-registered: I am listed on the official expert register of the Mannheim Local Court for Turkish law. That listing is an independent, verifiable proof of expertise.
A practitioner, not a pure theorist: I personally litigate cases before Turkish courts through the UYAP e-court system. My opinions reflect how Turkish law is actually applied in practice, including current Court of Cassation (Yargıtay) rulings.
Fast and readable: Clearly structured opinions that answer the specific legal question asked, supported by citations to statute and case law, without unnecessary academic padding.

In practice, this dual qualification means: no detour through a separate Turkish law firm, no delay caused by a third party. I answer follow-up questions from the court or the instructing firm directly, in German, with no translation chain in between.

Typical Topics Covered

Inheritance Law: statutory succession under Turkish law (Turkish Civil Code Art. 495 ff.), forced heirship (Saklı Pay) and reduction claims (Tenkis), the split-estate rule under the 1929 German-Turkish Succession Treaty, validity of wills and inheritance contracts under Turkish law, and Muris Muvazaası.

For broader background on cross-border inheritance matters, see our inheritance law services and our Turkish Inheritance Guide for Germany: /en/services/inheritance-law and /en/blog/turkish-inheritance-germany-guide

Family Law: marital property regime and equalization of accrued gains (Edinilmiş Mallara Katılma), maintenance (Nafaka), validity and recognition of marriages and divorces, and custody (Velayet) under Turkish law.

Property Law: acquiring real estate ownership in Turkey, the Tapu land registry system, land registry law and good-faith acquisition (Turkish Civil Code Art. 1023), and inheritance-related land registry questions.

Private International Law: applicable law in German-Turkish cross-border matters, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments (Tanıma/Tenfiz under MÖHUK), and citizenship questions and their civil-law consequences (the Blue Card / Mavi Kart).

How It Works

Request: You describe the legal question and share the relevant documents. You receive an initial assessment of feasibility and scope quickly.
Quote: You receive a transparent fixed-fee quote with a turnaround time. No hidden costs.
Opinion: You receive a written, reasoned opinion answering the question, with citations to Turkish statute and case law, delivered in German.
Follow-up: I remain available for any follow-up questions about the opinion.

Important: If the court has set a deadline for the opinion to be submitted, it is best to reach out as early as possible. Turnaround depends on the scope of the question and how much documentation is available upfront.

Fees

Fees depend on the scope and complexity of the legal question. Court-commissioned opinions are billed under Germany’s JVEG statute. Private requests from law firms or notaries receive a transparent fixed-fee quote in advance. A short initial feasibility assessment is free of charge.
